Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez wants to win trophies and make the fans happy this season.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A opening match against Monza, via FCInterNews, the Argentine outlined what he hopes for from the campaign to come.

Inter are now just moments away from beginning a new season.

The Nerazzurri head into the campaign with plenty of major changes compared to the last one.

One of the most significant ones is that there is a new player wearing the captain’s armband.

With Samir Handanovic having left during the summer, it is now Martinez who is Inter’s captain.

The 25-year-old will have more responsibility on his shoulders than ever. But for his part, Martinez is looking forward to it.

The striker has already shown that he can not just lead the team with his goals, but also with his defensive workrate and his ability to cope with pressure.

Now, Martinez has given his thoughts on what he wants to achieve through the new season.

“It’ll be nice to go out and start warming up and see them,” the 25-year-old continued.

“Being at this stadium is always an incredible feeling.”

As for his objectives for this season, Martinez made clear, “The same as always. Winning titles and trophies, taking Inter top the top as much as possible, and making the fans and my family happy.”

As for this evening’s opposition, Martinez said that “They’re a quality team with a strong focus on possession.”

“We’ll have to be careful with them,” the Inter captain continued.

“They have three quick forwards with plenty of quality, so we have to watch out for them on the counter.”

Martinez added that “We hope that we can play the way we practised and get the result that we want.”
