Young Inter Milan winger Kevin Zefi is on the verge of joining Premier League club Newcastle United

This according to UK news outlet NUFCBlog, who report that the 18-year-old has reached an agreement with the Magpies, and that the transfer should now only be a short time away.

Zefi made the switch to Inter from Irish team Shamrock Rovers during the summer of 2021.

The Nerazzurri had beat the competition of a number of teams to the young Irishman’s signature.

However, according to the Irish Examiner, the teenager’s time with the Nerazzurri is likely to be coming to an end.

Zefi has had some standout performances for Inter at youth team level. However, he has yet to really make his mark within their Primavera, or Under-19 team.

However, the young Irish youth international will soon go in search of a different challenge. He is close to leaving for Newcastle in the Premier Legaue.

Kevin Zefi On The Verge Of Leaving Inter Milan To Join Newcastle

According to NUFCBlog, Zefi has been receiving advice from former Newcastle defender Stephen Carr.

After consulting with Carr, who recommended that he join the Magpies’ youth team setup, Zefi has made his decision.

The Irishman will depart from Inter to join the Tyneside club. NUFCBlog anticipate that Zefi will become a part of the Magpies’ Under-21 team immediately.

Has the Irish Examiner note, the Magpies have already completed a couple of signings of highly-rated Irish youth prospects. Namely, they have brought in defender Alex Murphy and goalkeeper Reece Byrne.

However, they may not be finished there.

The Irish Examiner report that the Tyneside giants also want to take advantage of Zefi’s likely departure from Inter. They see the 18-year-old as a potential big prospect for their future plans.

The outlet notes that since Brexit rules came into effect that make it tougher for English teams to sign Irish under-18 players, Italian teams have made more of an effort to tap into that market.

However, in the case of Zefi, the player’s age means that a signing for Newcastle would be more straightforward now.
