Negotiations between Inter Milan and Bayern for a transfer of Benjamin Pavard are ongoing despite a “deadline” running out.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the two clubs will continue to discuss the possibility of a move even though the Bavarians had initially identified yesterday as the last day in which they’ll listen to offers.

Inter have made Pavard a major target in defense for the final days of the summer transfer window.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has even admitted as much.

Inter have gone all summer without making a defensive signing the replace Milan Skriniar. Now they’re setting their sights on Pavard.

But agreeing a deal with Bayern for a transfer of the Frenchman won’t be easy by any means.

The Germans reportedly don’t want to lose hold of Pavard.

Even though the 27-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next June, and the German champions could risk losing hold of him on a free transfer next summer, they are still inclined towards keeping hold of him.

Di Marzio: Pavard Negotiations Still Underway Between Inter & Bayern

As Di Marzio notes, Bayern had at least initially marked out tomorrow as the final day in which they’re willing to listen to offers for Pavard.

The reason for this is that at this stage of the transfer window, finding a replacement could prove difficult.

Bayern are close to sending 23-year-old right-back Josip Stanisic out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen.

Therefore, defensive depth on the right flank could start to look a little thin. This would only be moreso the case if Pavard were to leave.

As such, now that the German champions have negotiated a loan move for Stanisic, they do not want to sell Pavard.

However, the player is still very keen to make the move. He and his representatives are doing everything they can to convince Bayern.

The same is true of Inter.

Therefore, by the force of Inter and Pavard’s pressure, the negotiations have not yet died off.
