Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram has won praise for his eye-catching display in his Serie A debut against Monza.

As Italian news outlet L’Interista point out, the reviews for the Frenchman’s performance have been fairly positive in the player ratings for yesterday’s match, even despite the fact that he did not score or assist a goal.

Thuram was thrown straight into the deep end yesterday evening.

After arriving on a free transfer in the summer, the 26-year-old was entrusted with a starting berth in Inter’s first match of the Serie A campaign.

Expectations have been fairly high for Thuram. The striker finished as Borussia Monchengladbach’s top scorer last season.

Moreover, Thuram has increasingly featured for the French national team. He came off the bench for Les Bleus in the World Cup final in Qatar.

Marcus Thuram Wins Praise For Performance In Inter Win Vs Monza

Thuram did not manage to get on the scoresheet yesterday evening.

Nor did the 26-year-old assist either of Lautaro Martinez’s goals.

However, that is not to say that Thuram did not leave his mark on the match. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Thuram clearly looked like a man who wanted to make an impression. He was hungry to get on the ball, and when he did have it at his feet, looked to take on Monza defenders one-on-one at every opportunity.

This meant that the Frenchman was able to burst up the pitch on a few occasions.

Moreover, Thuram was able to win a few useful fouls.

Once the 26-year-old had possession of the ball he did not give it up easily. Thuram used his height, strength, and balance to hold of defenders, taking the pressure off of his team.

The reviews for Thuram’s performance suggest that this can’t be the best that Inter see from the Frenchman.

To live up to his wages and the hype, the Frenchman must start contributing more in the final third.

But what Thuram did show on the pitch was more than enough to show that he can live up to expectations sooner or later.
