Former Arsenal, Man United, and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez is waiting for the chance to join Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the veteran Chilean international has rejected all other offers, but also that the Nerazzurri have made clear that he must accept a backup role if he joins.

A return to Inter for Sanchez would come as something of a surprise.

This is mainly due to the fact that the Chilean only left the Nerazzurri last summer., He departed after agreeing a termination of his contract by mutual consent, an arrangement which also included severance pay.

Sanchez made the switch to Marseille on a free transfer.

And despite the fact that the 34-year-old had a very fruitful campaign with the French giants, he has not signed a new contract.

Therefore, Sanchez is available on a free transfer.

Alexis Sanchez Wants Inter Milan Move – But Must Accept Backup Role

Tuttosport confirm reports that Sanchez has made going back to Inter his number one priority.

There is also other interest in the veteran forward, who despite his age has proven that he can still have a significant impact.

But for the player’s part, Sanchez is clear on what he wants. And he may well get the chance.

Inter are still trying to offload forward Joaquin Correa in the final days of the transfer window. And if the Argentine were to head for the exit door, the Nerazzurri would consider Sanchez a viable like-for-like replacement.

However, Tuttosport report, Inter expect assurances from Sanchez that he understands that he will have a backup role next season.

In his final season at Inter, the Chilean showed discontent with not receiving as much playing time as he’d wanted.

And according to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri do not want a similar situation.

They will happily bring Sanchez back to play a backup role. But he must know that he cannot kick up a fuss over playing time.
