Legendary former Inter Milan defender Beppe Bergomi feels very positively about the arrival of Benjamin Pavard at the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, Bergomi gave his thoughts on the Frenchman’s seemingly imminent arrival at his former club.

Pavard’s arrival at Inter is not yet official.

However, all indications are that it is only a matter of time.

Pavard will reportedly undergo his medicals and sign his contract at some point this week.

Then, the 2018 World Cup winner can make himself available to Simone Inzaghi and start getting up to speed with his new teammates.

Pavard could even be ready to make his debut in Inter’s next Serie A match, away to Cagliari. The Nerazzurri travel to Sardinia to face the Rossoblu on Monday.

And for his part, Bergomi is looking forward to seeing Pavard in an Inter shirt.

Bergomi On Inter Milan Signing Benjamin Pavard

Asked if he thinks that Pavard is a coup for Inter, Bergomi replied “Absolutely, yes. He’s a great signing. It’s not even up for discussion.”

The former Nerazzurri captain said of Pavard that “I’m a big fan of him.”

“However, throughout his career so far, he’s almost always played as a fullback,” Bergomi continued. “Therefore, he’ll have tio adjust quickly and quickly understand his new role as a right-sided player in a back three.”

“For me, among other things, he’s a perfect player for a back three,” he suggested.

Bergomi feels that Pavard can add “A lot of great experience,” to this Inter.

“He’s a World Cup winner. He was an important player for France on the biggest stage.”

“And then with Bayern he’s won everything,” he continued.

“In this respect, it’s difficult to find a better candidate.”

“And he also adds height to the team on set pieces, and physicality.”
