Roma directors have landed in London as they seek a final agreement with their Chelsea counterparts for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.

This has been a chaotic summer for the 30-year-old. After spending last season on loan at Inter Milan, many expected him to remain at the club, especially after pledging his love for the Nerazzurri during his miserable 2021/22 season at Chelsea.

Nevertheless, the Belgian and his lawyer were simultaneously holding talks with Juventus. This revelation irked Inter who decided to abandon the player’s pursuit.

But in another twist, the Bianconeri failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea for the player’s transfer.

This left Lukaku’s future up in the air, especially with new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino unwilling to rely on his services.

But luckily for the former Man United star, Roma have now emerged to the scene. The Giallorossi are working fast as they try to put the deal over the line in the final week of the summer transfer market.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto arrived in London on Friday.

The Portuguese will then discuss a loan deal for Lukaku with Chelsea officials on dinner following the club’s Premier League fixture against Luton Town.

However, the source expects more formal negotiations to take place on Saturday morning. The Serie A club would like to put the deal over the line as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Lukaku is in Brussels, but he’ll be ready to take a flight either to London or Rome to finalize the transfer.
