Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is reportedly considering Konrad Laimer as an internal solution to replace Inter Milan transfer target Benjamin Pavard.

As we all know by now, the Nerazzurri are tirelessly working on a deal that brings in the 27-year-old defender to Appiano Gentile.

The 2018 World Cup winner is a longtime target of the club. They now view him as the ideal candidate to replace Milan Skriniar in Simone Inzaghi’s three-man backline.

The former Lille and Stuttgart man can operate either as a centre-back or a right-back.

But while the two clubs have already reached an accord, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is the one blocking the operation.

The German tactician refuses to release his defender before having a ready-made replacement at his disposal.

But according to the Bild via FcInterNews, Tuchel may already have a genuine alternative at his service in the shape of Konrad Laimer.

The 26-year-old joined Bayern this summer as a free agent after seeing out his contract at RB Leipzig.

The Austrian originally plays as a central midfielder. Nonetheless, he’s versatile enough to cover other roles.

As the source explains, Laimer proved he can feature at right-back during pre-season. This is the position that Pavard currently occupies at the club.

However, the report also mentions external options. These include 23-year-old Feyenoord fullback Lutsharel Geertruida. But the latter’s price tag (40 million euros) could ward off the Bundesliga champions.

The other names on the list are Armel Bella-Kotchap, Timo Kehrer and Lukas Klostermann
