Defender Francesco Acerbi will be out of tomorrow’s Serie A match between Cagliari and Inter Milan through injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Last weekend, Acerbi was the only Inter player to miss the team’s Serie A opener against Monza.

The 35-year-old was recovering from a calf problem that he had picked up during preseason.

And according to Tuttosport, the veteran defender is still recovering from that injury. It is not a serious issue and Acerbi should be able to return soon enough.

However, the Nerazzurri are not going to take any risks, and so the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender will play no part in tomorrow’s match.

With Acerbi still absent, Stefan de Vrij will once again start in the centre of Inter’s back three at the Sardegna Arena.

The Dutchman had marshalled the defense against Monza as well. He helped the Nerazzurri to a clean sheet against a Brianzoli team who had scored against them in both Serie A meetings last season.

Meanwhile Tuttosport anticipates, the other two players in Inter’s back three will also be the same as against Monza.

On the left of the defense, Alessandro Bastoni will once again start.

And on the right, Matteo Darmian should also start.

The 33-year-old Italian international had started against the Brianzoli as well. Towards the end of that match, he came off the pitch with what coach Simone Inzaghi revealed was an ankle problem.

Young German defender Yann Bisseck replaced Darmian for the closing stages against Monza.

However, Darmian is fit to start tomorrow.

Meanwhile, one player who certainly will not have any role to play tomorrow is Benjamin Pavard.

Inter coach Inzaghi is hopeful of having the German at his disposal soon enough. However, as of yet the Nerazzurri have not gotten the green light from Bayern Munich on the Frenchman’s transfer.
