Bayern Munich are ramping up their efforts to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as a replacement for Inter Milan target Benjamin Pavard.

This according to German tabloid Bild, via FCInterNews.

The transfer saga between Inter, Bayern, and Pavard is now coming to a head.

Inter have made clear that they expect a final green light from the Bavarians by 15.00 CET this afternoon. Otherwise, the Nerazzurri will make a move to sign another defender.

And for their part, Bayern are doing what they can to sign a replacement for the Frenchman.

The Germans’ desire to only sell Pavard if they have a replacement ready has been the main impediment to a deal for some time.

Now that Inter are losing patience as the transfer deadline looms, Bayern are hard at work on that front.

Bayern Step Up Push For Chalobah As Inter Wait For Pavard

Bayern’s target to take the place of Pavard certainly appears to be Chelsea defender Chalobah.

The 23-year-old Englishman is a versatile right-footed defender. Like Pavard, he can play in both centre-back and fullback positions in either a back three or a back four.

Bayern have shown an interest in Chalobah for a couple of days now.

However, with Inter’s deadline now breathing down their necks, the German champions are trying to seal a deal.

According to Bild, the main potential obstacle to Bayern signing Chalobah would be Chelsea’s demands on the structure of a deal.

Bayern’s hope is to sign Chalobah on loan. And Chelsea could be open to this.

However, the Blues would expect that if they do loan Chalobah to Bayern, it would be with a purchase obligation.

Meanwhile, there is also an alternative possibility.

Bild report that Bayern could also decide to move midfielder Konrad Laimer to right-back to replace Pavard. In that case, they would try to sign a midfielder instead of a defender.
