Wingback Federico Dimarco has earned praise for dominating the left flank for Inter Milan in a 2-0 Serie A win over Cagliari.

As L’Intersita highlight, the 25-year-old received positive scores in the player ratings for the match across Italian media.

Dimarco took up his customary position on Inter’s left side in yesterday’s match.

The Italian international made the position his own last season. And early indications this season are that he is not going to make it easy for Carlos Augusto to get in ahead of him.

Dimarco proved to be a key outlet for Inter, as he did well to free himself in the space left between the lines on Cagliari’s right flank.

The 25-year-old was able to combine with teammates on numerous occasions, particularly defender Alessandro Bastoni.

And Dimarco also proved decisive in Inter’s second goal on the night, assisting Lautaro Martinez.

Federico Dimarco Praised For Marauding Display In Inter Win Vs Cagliari

It was Dimarco who picked up the ball from Marcus Thuram pass just before the half-hour mark.

The 25-year-old drove into space with the ball, without a Cagliari player able to get near him.

As he often does, Dimarco picked up his head as he reached the final third. The wingback played in Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, who then did well to manoeuvre the ball past several Cagliari players and then slot home for the Nerazzurri’s second goal.

This was a good illustration of the influence that Dimarco had on Inter’s attacking player against the Rossoblu.

The Azzurri star proved that he can be the engine of some very direct forward play.

The Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport both gave Dimarco a score of 7/10 for his efforts against the Rossoblu.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta dello Sport, TuttoMercatoWev, and L’Interista all went one lower, 6.5/10, to grade Dimarco’s performance.
