It’s now or never for Inter Milan in their efforts to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will wait until 15.00 CET this afternoon to secure a deal for the Frenchman, or else move on to alternative targets.

The transfer saga between Inter, Bayern, and Pavard has dragged on for several weeks now.

According to the Gazzetta, behind the scenes Inter’s directors have always been confident that they can get the move over the line.

The Nerazzurri believe that Bayern do not want to see the deal fall through. The two clubs agreed on a fee for the 27-year-old’s whose contract runs out next summer, over a week ago.

And regardless of Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel’s seemingly negative stance, Inter feel that Bayern do not want to miss out on the fee that they agreed to sell Pavard.

The big holdup in the deal has always been Bayern’s search for a suitable replacement for the Frenchman.

Inter Milan Tell Bayern Munich It’s Now Or Never For Benjamin Pavard Deal

According to the Gazzetta, the most recent contacts between Inter and Bayern were yesterday.

There, the Nerazzurri made clear that with the transfer deadline looming, their patience is not infinite. In fact, it is close to running out.

Inter let it leak that their internal deadline on the deal is 15.00 CET this afternoon.

Either they get the all-clear from Bayern by then, or they abruptly change strategy.

According to the Gazzetta, it’s no coincidence that after the most recent contacts between Inter and Bayern, the Bavarians stepped up their efforts to sign a like-for-like replacement for Pavard.

According to the newspaper, Bayern’s move for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is now in full swing.

And versatile Villarreal defender Juan Foyth appears to be Plan B for the German champions.

As for Inter’s backup targets if they don’t wrap up the Pavard deal this afternoon, the Gazzetta note that they could themselves move for Chalobah. The Chelsea defender has long been a player who the Nerazzurri directors rate highly.

And Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has been on Inter’s radar since Antonio Conte was coach.

A late swoop for the 24-year-old Spurs man could be the strategy should Bayern continue to hold up the Pavard transfer.
