The agent of midfielder Stefano Sensi has made clear that the player always made staying at Inter Milan this season his goal.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews, Sensi’s agent Beppe Riso also stressed that despite his reputation for being unavailable due to a lack of fitness, the 28-year-old got significant playing time with Monza last season.
It is now certain that Sensi will be an Inter player this season. Or at least until the January transfer.
It had looked for some time as though a move away would be inevitable for the Italian international.
Despite an eye-catching preseason, Sensi didn’t appear to have a place at Inter.
However, in the past couple of weeks, the Nerazzurri’s strategy seems to have changed. The collapse of their signing of Lazar Samardzic appeared to play a significant role in their decision to rely on Sensi this season after all.
Agent: Stefano Sensi Always Wanted To Return To Inter Milan
There was some transfer interest in Sensi right up until deadline day.
The midfielder’s former club Sassuolo made a last-minute bid to bring him back.
But Sensi is still a Nerazzurri player with deadline day now in the past.
It is not exactly clear how much of a role the 28-year-old will have to play at Inter this season.
The arrival of Davy Klaassen on a deadline day free transfer suggests that the Nerazzurri felt the need to beef up in midfield, perhaps not planning to rely too much on Sensi.
The fact that the Italian will not likely be available against Fiorentina this weekend gives a good hint as to why.
The problems are the same as ever for the 28-year-old – his fitness means that availability is always a question.
However, for his part, Sensi’s agent has made the player’s intentions very clear.
“Last season he made a lot of appearances,” Riso said. “And his objective was always precisely to return to Inter.”
