Former France and Inter defender Stephane Dalmat expects that Marcus Thuram will be prolific in front of goal for Inter Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the Frenchman also praised the signing of Benjamin Pavard.

Of all Inter’s summer signings, Thuram is the one who has really hit the ground running.

The 26-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The Nerazzurri may not have paid a transfer fee for Thuram. However, that certainly doesn’t mean that expectations haven’t been high for the Frenchman.

In his first two Serie A matches for Inter, Thuram showed plenty of positive signs.

Against Cagliari, the 26-year-old notched his first ever assist in a Nerazzurri shirt.

One thing that Thuram did not manage to do prior to Inter’s match against Fiorentina, was find the back of the net. Even in preseason, he did not score any goals.

Considering that Thuram is a striker, and has arrived to replace Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku, that is naturally a concern.

However, against Fiorentina, the 26-year-old did manage to get on the scoresheet.

And Dalmat expects that he will only continue to do so.

Dalmat: Marcus Thuram Will Score Many Goals For Inter Milan

“He was positive right away in his first couple matches,” Dalmat said of Thuram.

“But [against Fiorentina} he was at the heart of everything.”

“I had no doubts about him,” he said of the striker.

“He will score many goals,” the former midfielder predicted of Thuram. “Yesterday’s will be the first in a long sequence.”

“On the other hand, the only thing that he’d yet to do already was score a goal.”

“He’s a great player, I said that right away when he arrived in Italy,” Dalmar said of Thuram.

“He’ll prove it at Inter, and I think he can have a great season.”

Of Thuram’s strike partnership with Lautaro Martinez, Dalmat said that “They seem to be in sync.”

“On paper it’s a very strong duo, they complement each other well.”

Dalmat also gave his thoughts on Inter’s signing of another Frenchman, defender Benjamin Pavard. “It was a good signing,” he said.

The former midfielder said that Pavard is “A good player. I don’t know if he’s a truly top-level player. But he can do well for Inter.”
