AC Milan and Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly believes Marcus Thuram can be a star player for Inter Milan but he must score more goals.
Desailly spoke to SempreInter.com during an event hosted by BoyleSports, where he also spoke about Premier League betting. The FIFA World Cup winner with France from 1998, added that the key for Marcus Thuram will be how well he fits in with Lautaro Martinez.
“I knew his father well” Desailly began speaking of Lilian Thuram, Markus’s father.
The former Rossoneri defender continued “He will love the passion at Inter, even if I don’t like them for good reason! I believe he will fit in.
“He still has to prove that he can do it, how can he play with Lautaro Martinez? How am I going to adapt my movements with him? This is key for him, instead of focusing on him and his performance.
“If he has chosen Inter then tactically he must believe he can adjust himself to Lautaro and be part of a good combination” Desailly continued.

Desailly believes Thuram will come good for Inter but added that the Frenchman must improve his goalscoring. Marcus Thuram scored his first goal in his third appearance for Inter Milan in the 4-0 thrashing of Fiorentina in the Serie A last weekend.
“He can be that extra player Inter are looking for, but his weakness is scoring, he doesn’t score enough goals” Desailly stated.
Speaking about who will win the Serie A this season, the former AC Milan defender added he would love to see Napoli repeat their win. However, he believes most teams will now know what to expect.
“I would love Napoli to win Serie A again, but the only problem is everyone knows what to expect now. They keep the ball with intensity and we didn’t see them coming. Suddenly, Napoli had confidence and quality players. There were lots of inconsistency in their rivals too.
He continued “I am all for diversity of winners, I like it when you have different teams who win. You have to share”

In conclusion, Desailly spoke about his former side, AC Milan hoping they win the Serie A title this year. However, Desailly was unsure if they have what it takes to win it this season.
Desailly believes the Rossoneri had a good transfer window, despite sacking his former teammate at AC Milan, Paolo Maldini.
“I would like AC Milan to win it myself, of course. It is painful as they sacked Paolo Maldini, and they have made some good moves, but I am not sure it will be enough.
“Two years ago they won the league and we had overestimated them. They did not recruit enough to maintain it and keep the level. You could tell second choice players were not up to the level.
“Inter or Napoli are more likely to win it, and if I had to pick I would say Inter. I don’t see how Napoli can continue to perform this way, I don’t see it” Desailly said.
