Inter Milan legend Esteban Cambiasso feels that he and former Nerazzurri teammate Javier Zanetti are like brothers.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, the former midfielder opened up about the strong friendship that he enjoys with his former club and international teammate, current Inter Vice-President Zanetti.

Cambiasso spent a decade at Inter between 2004 and 2014.

The Argentine made well over four hundred appearances for the Nerazzurri. He was integral to winning five Serie A titles, culminating in the European Treble that the team won during the 2009-10 season.

Few players could claim to have made more of an enduring impact at Inter than Cambiasso. And few were more pillars of that era’s Nerazzurri side than the Argentine.

But one of those players was Zanetti.

The Argentine captained Inter during one of the most successful periods during the club’s history.

And that Nerazzurri team were a tight-knit bunch.

The relationship between Cambiasso and Zanetti was not just confined to when they were both Inter players.

The two men have remained close friends even after they both left the Nerazzurri. Zanetti hung up his boots in the summer of 2014, whilst Cambiasso left to join Leicester City in the Premier League.

Esteban Cambiasso: Javier Zanetti A “Brother From Different Parents”

Of Zanetti, Cambiasso said that “We’ve gone through so much together.”

“Maybe people hear that and think it’s mostly about things on the pitch. But it’s also family events, the births of our children.”

“We’ve become brothers without having the same mother or father,” Cambiasso continued. “There’s been a strong bond between us for so many years, almost like family.”

“I know how much he and his family do with their Foundation,” the former midfielder added of Zanetti.

Cambiasso and Zanetti both started for Inter in the 2010 Champions League final, a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich.
