Legendary former Nerazzurri defender Beppe Bergomi feels that it is hard to predict who will win the derby between Inter Milan and AC Milan.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, via FCInterNews, the former defender gave the view that both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are very strong sides.
Inter and Milan meet in the first league derby of the season in less than one week.
As with last season, the two teams will face very early on in the campaign. In this instance, the derby will actually be right after the international break.
There has been plenty of opportunity for the suspense for the match to build during the break.
The derby is always one of the showpiece occasions of Italian football. That is the case no matter where the two teams are in the table when it is played.
But the fact that Inter and Milan are the two teams at the top of the table gives the match an even greater sense of significance.
Both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have taken nine points from nine to start their seasons. No other team in Serie A has managed to do this.
Therefore, the derby could end up being a match with major Serie A title implications.
Inter and Milan were, after all, the two teams who had fought for the title until the last day of the season during the 2021-22 season.
Bergomi Not Making Any Predictions For Inter Vs AC Milan
“It’s difficult to say who the better side is,” Bergomi said of the derby.
“For me the first few matches of the season are ‘August football,’ and then it starts over after the break with the cup competitions and European football.”
The former Inter defender observed that “They’re two top teams. They both have massive quality.”
“They’ve both shown that they have clear identities,” he noted.
“They each play a different style of play, but both are very good.”
