AC Milan received a blow ahead of the Derby della Madonnina clash against Inter Milan, as Pierre Kalulu will miss the showdown through injury.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri will collide on Saturday in a contest between the two Serie A leaders.

Both clubs currently enjoy a perfect record after the first three rounds of the campaign. But at least one of them will drop points for the time this season.

However, Milan manager Stefano Pioli will have to contend the match with a depleted backline.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Pierre Kalulu won’t recover in time for the Derby encounter.

The 23-year-old sustained a muscular injury recently. While he was hoping to shake it off before the big weekend tilt, the source considers it unlikely at this point.

This will be a comprehensive blow for Pioli, especially due to the absence of Fikayo Tomori.

AC Milan Defender Pierre Kalulu Won’t Be Available For The Derby Della Madonnina Clash Vs Inter Milan

This season, Kalulu is yet to start a match, only making a couple of appearances off the bench.

However, Tomori received a red card in the previous round against Roma, ruling him out of the Derby.

Thus, Pioli may have considered starting Kalulu alongside Malick Thiaw at the heart of his backline.

But with the Frenchman also out of the equation, his only remaining option is Danish veteran Simon Kjaer.

On the other hand, Olivier Giroud has reportedly overcome the physical problem he sustained last week during France’s 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.

The 36-year-old striker should be available to start against Inter on Saturday.
