Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram feels that playing alongside Lautaro Martinez makes everything easier for him.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after yesterday’s derby win over AC Milan, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old praised his strike partner as one of the best players in the world in his position.

After four matches in an Inter shirt, former Borussia Monchengladbach striker Thuram is already making his mark.

Yesterday’s goal against Milan was his second for the Nerazzurri. The sense now is that there are certainly more to come.

Thuram has wasted no time in integrating and finding his feet at Inter.

And key to the Frenchman’s quick integration has been his functional relationship with Martinez.

The Argentine did not get on the scoresheet yesterday as he had done in Inter’s three matches of the season. But, as usual, he did just about everything else.

Wearing the captain’s armband, Martinez has been the player who sets the tone at Inter.

And Thuram has benefited from this arguably more than anyone else.

Rather than having to figure the attack out all by himself, the 26-year-old has had Martinez to play off of, and all signs are pointing to a fruitful partnership between the two strikers.

Thuram said that “I knew that Inter are a great team, with great players.”

He continued that “That makes it easier to play. And that’s what we’re doing on the pitch.”

“Lautaro is our captain,” Thuram noted.

“He’s a great player, one of the best strikers in the world.”

“Playing with him makes everything easier,” the striker said of his captain and attacking partner.

And of Inter’s Champions League match against Real Sociedad in a few days, Thuram said that “We’re thinking one match at a time.”

“Every match in Serie A is tough,” he added.

“We’ll train, and then see what happens.”
