Marcus Thuram and Dusan Vlahovic are ensuring that Inter Milan and Juventus have few regrets about not signing Romelu Lukaku.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who declare that it’s “No Lukaku, no problem” for the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri.

The transfer saga with striker Romelu Lukaku at the centre of it was one of the biggest soap operas of the summer.

Inter came close to bringing the Belgian back on a permanent basis from Chelsea. But they abruptly and angrily pulled the plug on signing Lukaku after learning that he had been in serious negotiations with Juventus behind their backs.

This naturally made it seem as though the Bianconeri would become the favourites to sign Lukaku.

And Juventus coach Max Allegri did see the 30-year-old as the ideal replacement for Vlahovic.

But the Bianconeri would only move for Lukaku if Vlahovic were to be sold. And in the end, the Serb remained at the club.

Therefore, Lukaku didn’t end up going to Inter or Juventus after all.

In a late twist, it was Roma who swooped in to sign the Belgian on loan from Chelsea.

Thuram & Vlahovic Shining Means “No Lukaku, No Problem”

In Inter’s case, not signing Lukaku has meant that they’ve put Thuram at the centre of their attack right away this season.

The Nerazzurri’s plan had been to have both Thuram and Lukaku in their team. This would allow the Frenchman to gradually make his mark, whilst Lukaku’s experience and proven quality could give Inter goals and a focal point in attack in the short term.

But with Lukaku out of the picture, Inter instead signed Marko Arnautovic.

Thuram has been the player to start alongside Lautaro Martinez in Inter’s first four matches, rather than Arnautovic.

Meanwhile, for Juventus, Vlahovic has continued to be their main man in attack.

The Bianconeri had been willing to entertain big money offers for the 23-year-old. Particularly following last season, in which Vlahovic underwhelmed somewhat.

But the former Fiorentina striker stayed, meaning that there was no move for Lukaku after all.

And so far, the Gazzetta notes, neither Inter nor Juventus are missing out on Lukaku.

For the Nerazzurri, Thuram has proven to strike up an effective strike partnership right away with Lautaro Martinez.

The Frenchman has scored against both Fiorentina and AC Milan. He has also helped Martinez reach five goals early on in the campaign.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic has gotten off to a fast start this season.

The Serb has scored four goals from four matches. His brace against Lazio over the weekend was decisive.
