Juventus & Italy Legend Declares: ‘Inter & AC Milan Can Beat Anyone – Even Man City Or Real Madrid’

Legendary former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon feels that even Europe’s elite should fear Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old named the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri as teams who can beat even Manchester City or Real Madrid.

Inter and Milan are starting their Champions League campaigns this week.

Both of the city rivals reached last season’s semifinal stage, where they faced one another. And the Nerazzurri did one better, reaching the final of the competition.

The Rossoneri start off with a home opener against Premier League side Newcastle United.

And for Inter, there is a trip to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad.

Both of the pair will undoubtedly have ambitions of reaching the knockout stages of the competition once again.

And, if they can get that far, Inter and Milan will start to believe that anything can happen, like last season.

But the big test will likely be whether the Nerazzurri or the Rossoneri can reach the necessary level to compete with Europe’s very elite.

Last season, Inter got a win and a draw against Barcelona in the Champions League group stage.

But two 0-2 losses to Bayern Munich did give the impression that the Nerazzurri were still not in the highest tier.

In the knockouts, Inter had a path of Porto, Benfica, and Milan to the final. Many argued that they were lucky to avoid some of the true heavy hitters.

Then in the final, Inter did lose to Manchester City, who completed a European treble.

But the Cityzens hardly dominated the match. Statistically and in terms of the run of play, Inter were every bit the equals of the Premier League giants.

Buffon argued that “Teams like Inter and Milan, on their day, can beat anyone. Even City and Real Madrid.”
