Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan must show what they’re really made of against Real Sociedad this evening.

The coach spoke to InterTV ahead of the Champions League group stage opener, via FCInterNews.

The wait is nearly over.

Today, Inter will begin a new Champions League campaign.

Last season, the Nerazzurri’s season in Europe was nearly perfect. They escaped from a “group of death” containing Barcelona and Bayern Munich, before going on a memorable run through the knockout rounds of the competition.

Inter had to endure heartbreak at the climax of their season. They fell at the last hurdle, suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

And now, Inter go again.

The Nerazzurri will face Real Sociedad away in San Sebastian to begin again in earnest in Europe’s top competition.

Red Bull Salzburg and Benfica are the other two teams in Inter’s group.

This may not be as tough of a group as Inter faced last season, at least on paper. But it represents the beginning of another journey with many potential pitfalls, and the possibility of glory.

Inzaghi: Need The “Real Inter Milan” Against Real Sociedad

Inzaghi said ahead of this evening’s match that “We’ve studied our opponent. They’re a team with absolutely top quality.”

“They did well last season, and they’re doing well again this time around.”

The Nerazzurri coach made clear that “We know that we have to play like the real Inter.”

“We want to do well this season,” Inzaghi continued. “We know the journey that we went on last season.”

“Clearly repeating that will be difficult, but we’ll try.”

“We want to relive evenings with our fans like those of last season,” the Nerazzurri coach said.

And of squad rotation, Inzaghi said that “We’ve always had some players absent. We’ll try to organize for this match in the best way possible.”
