Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi should soon overcome his injury and put himself at the manager’s disposal once again.

The 28-year-old sustained a muscular problem ahead of the club’s clash against Fiorentina a few weeks ago.

While he initially managed to overcome it in a few days, his condition then worsened. This prompted another stop for additional days as a precautionary measure.

The former Palermo man missed Inter’s Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad on Wednesday. The Nerazzurri secured a point in a 1-1 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Lautaro Martinez.

But according to Calciomercato, Sensi’s return is drawing closer. The source expects him to be fully recovered in a week.

Therefore, the midfielder won’t travel with his teammates to Tuscany for Sunday’s encounter against Empoli.

He would also miss next Wednesday’s home contest against his former club Sassuolo. So perhaps he could make his return for next weekend’s Southern trip to Salerno.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi To Receive A Boost In Midfield As Stefano Sensi Could Return In A Week

As the source explains, the Italian’s return from injury could be an important boost for Simone Inzaghi.

Sensi can interpret various roles in the middle of the park. He also has experience as a deep-lying playmaker, which could come in handy in emergency cases.

Nevertheless, he won’t be available for Champions League fixtures as the club left him out of the official group-stage squad.

The midfielder joined Inter in the summer of 2019, completing a switch from Sassuolo. Although he showcased impressive technical skills, recurring injury problems have been plaguing his stint at the club.

Sensi spent 18 months out on loan between Sampdoria and Monza before rejoining Inzaghi’s ranks in the summer.
