Inter Milan striker Alexis Sanchez is reportedly pushing for a starting spot in the club’s next Serie A encounter against Empoli.

The Chilean made his return to the club as a free agent in the summer. He enjoyed a positive 2022/23 campaign at Olympique Marseille. However, the French club opted against maintaining his services.

The 34-year-old was more than happy to rejoin Simone Inzaghi’s ranks. Nevertheless, he doesn’t intend to act as a benchwarmer.

After overcoming some physical issues, Sanchez made his re-debut for the club on Wednesday. He replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 70th minute of the Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad.

Following his introduction, Inter’s performance swiftly improved. He played as an attacking midfielder behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. He managed to add a flair that was sorely missing, which culminated in a late equalizer.

So according to La Gazzetta della Sport via FcInterNews, Sanchez is now aiming for a starting berth against Empoli following his impressive impact in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri will take on their Tuscan hosts at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Sunday’s early kickoff.

This would be his first start for the Nerazzurri since the home defeat at the hands of Sassuolo on February 20th, 2022.

Alexis Sanchez Could Make First Start Of The Season In Inter Milan’s Serie A Encounter Vs Empoli

So after a year and seven months, we could finally see the Chilean’s name in Inter’s starting lineup.

The veteran striker’s storied career saw him representing some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Barcelona.

Sanchez had a memorable spell at Arsenal, but struggled to make an impact during a forgettable stint at Man United. This culminated in a transfer to Inter in 2019.
