Alexis Sanchez could start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash away to Empoli.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Chilean could take the place of Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez in the starting eleven alongside Marcus Thuram.

So far this season, Sanchez has yet to start for Inter.

When the Chilean arrived towards the end of the transfer window, he was short of match-fitness so did not go straight into the lineup.

However, Sanchez came off the bench during thew Nerazzurri’s Champions League group stage opener against Real Sociedad.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi threw the 34-year-old with the team chasing a goal during the second half. And the former Arsenal and Barcelona man had the desired impact, giving a new dimension to the Nerazzurri’s attacking play before they scored a late equalizer.

Now, there is little question that Sanchez is fully fit.

The Chilean can start playing in the attacking rotation. He is the only one of Inter’s four senior forwards who is yet to start this season, with Marko Arnautovic having begun the match against La Real.

According to Sky, there is little doubt that Thuram will start tomorrow afternoon.

The Frenchman had dropped out of the lineup for the match against La Real. He will be back tomorrow at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

However, as far as the identity of Thuram’s strike partner, Sky is less certain.

The broadcaster anticipates that captain Martinez is still ahead to start.

But Sanchez is very much making himself an option.

With the fixture list starting to become busier and busier, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is seriously considering his options as far as rotating the squad.

And Sanchez could be the player the coach turns to in order to give Martinez a rest tomorrow.
