Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi feels that the Nerazzurri did a good job of seeing out their 1-0 win over Empoli this afternoon.
The 24-year-old reacted to the match speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews.
Inter went ahead through a brilliantly-taken Federico Dimarco goal from long range early in the second half of today’s match.
That followed a first half in which the Nerazzurri had had the majority of the ball, but never really raised the tempo.
After Dimarco’s goal, Inter did look to create a few more chances to extend their lead. But they were not able to be clinical with any of them.
And Empoli created some opportunities of their own, although they were only half-chances.
In the final minutes of the match, an injury to striker Marko Arnautovic meant that Inter had to play with ten men.
And Empoli did use their numerical advantage to stage a late assault on the Nerazzurri goal.
But Inter held firm, seeing out the 1-0 win and taking three points back to Milano.
Inter Midfielder Davide Frattesi Happy With Performance To Beat Empoli 1-0
“We had a great hunger to win because we wanted to keep the other teams behind us and extend our lead,” Frattesi said.
“We certainly wanted to win at all costs, and that will also be important in the matches to come,” he added.
Of the performance by Empoli, Frattesi said that They changed coaches. They have zero points in the table which is clearly going to trigger a reaction in you.”
“Then when they’re just 1-0 down especially towards the end, you never know.”
“They knew that they could have turned it around. So we did well to hold on to the result,” Frattesi said.
Of his continuing improvements, Frattesi said that “There’s always something for me to learn from the top players who are already here.”
“I’m happy with the way that I’ve settled in,” he added.
