Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco is dedicating his match-winning goal against Empoli to teammate Marko Arnautovic.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old reacted to the 1-0 victory and wished his injured teammate well.

On the whole, Inter got what they came for from the Stadio Carlo Castellani this afternoon.

The Nerazzurri saw out a 1-0 victory to take three points back to Milano.

And Dimarco’s brilliant long-range volley was certainly the highlight of the evening. The Italian international produced the kind of moment of quality that was necessary to unlock the result.

On the other hand, the one real dark spot in the match was an injury to Arnautovic.

It looks as though the Austrian could miss a significant chunk of time with his injury.

This comes as a blow to Inter’s squad depth right as the fixture list is really starting to become busy. And it also comes as a blow to Arnautovic on a personal level, of course.

Speaking after the match, Dimarco said that “It was a great goal. But what mattered is that the team won.”

He added that “I want to dedicate my goal to Arnautovic, who got injured today.”

Of the travelling Inter supporters who had attended the match, Dimarco said that “It was a great sight to see when we came onto the pitch today.”

“It felt like we were playing at home,” he added.

Dimarco said that “I believe that if we play like we did in the first half of the match, then we can have a great season.”

Inter maintained their perfect start to the season.

The Nerazzurri are the only team to have taken maximum points from  their opening five matches to start the current campaign.
