Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has happy with the way his team approached both halves in a 1-0 Serie A win over Empoli.
The coach expressed his happiness with the team in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews.
It was not an altogether straightforward victory for Inter at the Stadio Carlo Castellani this evening.
The Nerazzurri found the three points in the end, courtesy of a long-range Federico Dimarco screamer.
But it was also a match in which Inter had to suffer for a few different periods.
It was always likely that Empoli would put up more of a fight than their position in the table would perhaps suggest. And so it proved, as the Tuscans made life difficult for the Nerazzurri.
But Inter’s quality told in the end.
And Inzaghi was pleased with the way that his side played. They were made to work for their three points, but they were up to the challenge to keep their perfect start to the season alive and well.
Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Happy With Performance Vs Empoli
“I’m happy with the win,” Inzaghi said.
Of the fact that he has become the fourth coach in Inter’s history to start a league season off with five straight wins, the 47-year-old said that “Records are nice, but I’m more focused on doing the work at a team level.”
“We played an excellent match,” he said. “But based on how we played, we didn’t need to suffer in those last ten minutes down a man.”
“We were a bit imprecise in front of goal,” the Inter coach noted.
“And their goalkeeper made some excellent saves. But I’m satisfied with the guys’ performance. The approach they took in both halves”
“We were up against an Empoli team who were very motivation after changing coaches.”
Of the squad rotation, Inzaghi said that “With all these matches, we need everyone. The guys know that rotation is important with the pace of the matches we’re playing.”
“We didn’t take anything for granted,” Inzaghi said of the win over Empoli.
“I’m happy with the approach in both halves. We were patient.”
