Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will get a rest in Inter Milan’s Serie A clash against Sassuolo tomorrow evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

So far this season, Mkhitaryan has started in every single one of Inter’s matches across all competitions.

It’s been six starts in a row for the former Roma, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund veteran.

Mkhitaryan is one of only three outfield players who Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi hasn’t rested yet. Captain Lautaro Martinez and defender Alessandro Bastoni are the other two.

The 34-year-old has been the player who provides balance to Inter’s trio.

Hence Inzaghi has seemingly been reluctant to drop the veteran out of the lineup.

But against Sassuolo, the Corriere report, Mkhitaryan will finally drop to the bench.

In midfield, however, Inzaghi will put Nicolo Barella back into the starting eleven to face Sassuolo. The 26-year-old had come off the bench in Sunday’s win over Empoli, but did not start in it.

Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu will also start.

And Davide Frattesi will keep his place against his old team the Neroverdi. The 24-year-old had made his first ever start for Inter on Sunday against Empoli.

Therefore there will be no place for Mkhitaryan in the midfield trio.

The Armenian will get a chance to catch his breath after being a key man in giving Inter consistency from match to match across the start of the current campaign.

Meanwhile, the Corriere also anticipate that Alessandro Bastoni will drop out of the lineup.

This will leave captain Martinez as the only player to start every match along with goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

The Corriere’s complete predicted eleven for the match is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Acerbi; Dumfries, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Barella, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.
