Striker Andrea Pinamonti will be in the starting lineup for Sassuolo in this evening’s Serie A match against his old team Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Pinamonti has gotten off to a red-hot start to the current season.
The 24-year-old has scored four goals in Sassuolo’s first five matches of the campaign. This puts him just behind Inter captain Lautaro Martinez in the race for the Serie A top scorer at the moment.
Moreover, Pinamonti has scored five in all competition, having also found the back of the net in the Coppa Italia.
This already equals Pinamonti’s total for all of last season.
Last summer, the striker joined Sassuolo from Inter. The Neroverdi parted with a significant fee to sign Pinamonti, winning the race for his signature ahead of Atalanta.
This followed an outstanding loan season at Empoli.
Pinamonti had scored thirteen goals for the Tuscans during the 2021-22 campaign. This represented a big step for the striker compared to the prior season at Inter as well as loans at Frosinone and Genoa.
And last season, Pinamonti did not exactly live up to expectations for the Neroverdi. For the price tag, they would have expected more than just the give goals that he scored in Serie A.
Therefore, Pinamonti’s start to the current campaign feels in many respects like he is finally becoming the player that Sassuolo paid for.
Andrea Pinamonti To Start For Sassuolo Vs Inter Milan
Given Pinamonti’s blazing start to the season, it is little surprise that he’ll be in the lineup against Inter.
Pinamonti, who was in Inter’s youth system since 2013, has already scored against the Nerazzurri. He did so in April of 2022 for Empoli.
But doing so now could have even more of an impact.
The 24-year-old is laying down a marker in Serie A as a Sassuolo player. And he would certainly make a statement by scoring against the club that he moved from.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport report, former Valencia and Red Star Belgrade midfielder Uros Racic will start in midfield for Sassuolo.
And Kristian Thorstvedt could replace Nedim Bajrami in the Neroverdi lineup.
