Inter Milan summer signing Benjamin Pavard has slowly but surely established himself as a regular starter in Simone Inzaghi’s formation.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Frenchman has now finished his “apprenticeship”.
The 27-year-old completed a summer switch from Bayern Munich. However, he arrived at a relatively late stage. The Serie A campaign had already kicked off by the time he landed in Milano.
Therefore, Matteo Darmian was initially able to hold on to a regular spot. The Italian veteran has been operating as a right centre-back since last season when Milan Skriniar missed a large chunk of the action through injury.
As for the 2018 World Cup winner, he finally earned his club debut in last week’s Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad which ended 1-1.
A few days later, Pavard made his first Serie A appearance, starting in his team’s 1-0 victory in Empoli. However, he was on the bench during the recent defeat at the hands of Sassuolo.
Inter Milan Defender Benjamin Pavard Is Gradually Establishing Himself As A Regular Feature In Simone Inzaghi’s Lineup
Nevertheless, the source believes that the France international can now count himself as an “additional starter” in Inzaghi’s lineup.
Pavard is a versatile defender who can operate in various positions. But in a recent interview, he reiterated that his preferred position is the right centre-back role.
He revealed that playing in Inzaghi’s three-man defense was one of the main reasons that prompted him to push for a transfer to Inter.
