Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard feels that beating Salernitana was especially important after losing to Sassuolo during the week.

The Frenchman spoke to InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 Serie A victory at the Stadio Arechi in Salerno, via FCInterNews.

Inter’s victory over Salernitana was not as easy as the 4-0 scoreline might initially suggest.

Nor was it as straightforward a match as some might have predicted considering the abysmal form that the Granata have been in at the start of the current campaign.

But in the end, Inter got the job done.

The Nerazzurri take three points back to Milano. And this is enough to get them back on track in terms of their pursuit of the Serie A title.

Inter keep their position at the top of the table, level on points with city rivals AC Milan.

And just as importantly, the team have gone some way towards washing the taste of defeat against Sassuolo in midweek away.

Inter Milan Defender Benjamin Pavard Reacts To Victory Over Salernitana

Defender Pavard started against Salernitana, having been out of the lineup against Sassuolo.

The Frenchman saw out the full ninety minutes, helping the Nerazzurri to another Serie A clean sheet.

He noted that “Winning this match was really important. After losing against Sassuolo, we needed to take three points.”

Pavard added that “I know Italian football well. I knew [that it would be a competitive title race.]”

“I know that this is a very tactical league,” the Frenchman added. “And I’m very happy to be a part of this team.”

Then, looking ahead to Tuesday’s Champions League group stage clash with Benfica, Pavard said “Right now we’ll focus on this evening’s match, which was very important for us to win.”

“And then we can start to get our energy back for Tuesday,” he added.

“We’ve got another match on the way in the Champions League. We really want to do well in it.”
