Former Inter Milan bomber Mauro Icardi reportedly rejected proposals from AC Milan, AS Roma and Juventus last summer. The 30-year-old was hoping for a return to Appiano Gentile.

The Argentine made a name for himself in Italian football during his time at Sampdoria. This earned him a transfer to the Nerazzurri in 2013.

The striker swiftly established himself as a pillar at the club, eventually inheriting the captain’s armband.

Nevertheless, he ended up leaving the Beneamata in the summer of 2019 at the back of an ugly fallout with the club.

Following an unhappy stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Icardi joined Galatasaray in 2022 and found his scoring touch again. The Istanbul-based club won the Turkish domestic league last season, with the striker’s goals playing a vital role.

But while the player’s impressive form attracted interest from Italian giants, Icardi only had eyes for Inter.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Argentine rebuffed all interest from AC Milan, Juventus and Roma last summer, asking his entourage to secure a return to Inter.

As the source explains, Icardi still identifies himself as a Nerazzurri fan despite the controversial episodes that accompanied his departure. He only sees himself donning the Inter jersey in Italian football.

In the end, the striker ended up remaining at Galatasaray for another season and is still delivering the goods.

He has thus far scored 11 goals across all competitions since the start of the campaign, including the winner against Manchester United in Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Old Trafford.
