Oaktree Group has reportedly made a bid to acquire Serie A domestic TV rights for the next 15 years.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore via FcInterNews, the American company has tabled a bid worth 950 million to obtain Serie A TV rights on Italian soil for the 2024/25 season.

As the source explains, this yearly figure would slightly decrease through the years. Oaktree is hoping to secure the league’s domestic broadcasting rights for the next 15 years.

However, Lega Serie A would be able to maintain advertising rights which is worth around 70 million euros per year. Moreover, this bid excludes the league’s foreign TV rights.

On the other hand, the Lega will hold talks in the next hours with three major broadcasting companies: Sky Sport, DAZN and Mediaset.

While Lega Serie A is aiming to collect at least one billion euros per year, the report doesn’t expect the bids to exceed 880 million per year for the next five seasons.

As for Inter Milan, they are all too familiar with Oaktree group. This is the same company that lent the club’s owners Suning a figure of 275 million euros back in 2021 for operational costs.

Suning must either repay the loan or refinance it before its deadline on May 2024. This situation could prompt the Chinese company to sell their shares in the club as an escape route.
