Inter Milan have a good chance of securing qualification for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. However, this could force the club to change their summer plans.
In the summer of 2025, FIFA will organize the first edition of the new and expanded Club World Cup. It will take place in the United States.
While the current version of the competition only includes continental champions playing in a brief tournament, the new format will feature 32 clubs.
The organizers will divide the participants into eight groups of four. The first two of each group will reach the playoffs.
As for Inter, reaching the Round of 16 of this year’s Champions League will mathematically secure qualification to the 2025 Club World Cup.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, this tournament will have a major effect on the club’s plans for next summer.
As the source explains, the Club World Cup will take place between June and July 2025. Thus, it will prolong the clubs’ campaigns.
Inter Milan May Have To Revise Their Summer Plans Due To The FIFA Club World Cup
Therefore, the Nerazzurri could decide to spend two weeks of their pre-season in the mountains, or alternatively, stay at Pinetina.
The club would prefer this solution over a summer tour in the United States or the Far East, as it would allow the players to restore their energy levels ahead of what would be an extremely long campaign.
Nevertheless, these foreign summer tours often provide a decent boost for the club’s coffers. So we shall see if Inter would be willing to give up on it in favor of more comfortable physical preparations.
