Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is elated to have scored against Inter Milan in yesterday’s 2-2 Serie A draw at the San Siro.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews, the 22-year-old Netherlands youth international and former Bayern Munich striker gave his thoughts on scoring his biggest goal in a Rossoblu shirt yet.

Zirkzee proved his worth to Bologna in the perfect way early on in the second half of yesterday evening’s match.

The Dutchman had already had a fairly positive first half to the match.

There were no goals from Zirkzee prior to halftime, but there were a number of flashes of skill and holdup play that suggested that more was to come after the break.

And as the Rossoblu came out with a new energy and attacking intend, Zirkzee led the way.

It was the 22-year-old who pounced on a bit of a mix-up at the back from Inter early on in the half.

Zirkzee showed excellent skill to control the ball. Then, the Dutchman fooled Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a shot that arrowed into the bottom corner of the Nerazzurri net.

Joshua Zirkzee Elated After Goal Vs Inter

This was certainly a big statement from Zirkzee.

Last season, his first as a Bologna player, the Dutchman only managed to score two goals in Serie A all campaign.

This time around, he has already hit that figure in October. And moreover, the young striker has shown his quality on the big occasion.

As far as how he scored the goal, Zirkzee recounted that “It was pure instinct.”

“I got the ball from Ferguson, and then I had Orsolini to the right,” the 22-year-old continued.

“But I made up my mind to shoot. That’s something that I have to do more, because I’m a striker.”

“There’s no better feeling than scoring at the San Siro against a team like Inter,” Zirkzee continued.

The Dutchman noted that “We’re happy. So far this season we’ve only lost against Milan. Let’s keep it going.”
