Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Davy Klaassen could be attacking solutions for Inter Milan as Alexis Sanchez continues to struggle.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi could turn to the pair as attacking midfielders in the matches after the international break.

Inter’s issues in attack were on full display against Bologna in yesterday’s 2-2 Serie A draw against Bologna.

After the Emilian team had equalized, the Nerazzurri were obliged to push for a goal to regain their advantage. And they had the better part of a full half of football in which to do so.

But in truth there were few real moments of danger in front of the Rossoblu goal.

And there was no single culprit for this bluntness in attack.

Inter coach Inzaghi can certainly take some of the blame. And captain Lautaro Martinez produced relatively little after his spectacular first half goal.

Marcus Thuram put in a somewhat tired-looking performance, following his midweek Champions League heroics.

Therefore it was not surprising that Inzaghi felt the need to replace the Frenchman.

And there was only one senior forward on the bench for the coach to select. With Marko Arnautovic out, Sanchez was the logical choice for the coach.

Inzaghi Could Use Mkhitaryan & Klaassen As Attacking Midfielders As Sanchez Struggles

Sanchez’s performance was not enough to trouble the Bologna backline as Inter searched for a goal.

This was a worrying sign for the Nerazzurri in terms of the team’s attacking depth.

Behind Martinez and Thuram, there is only the Chilean until Arnautovic comes back from injury.

And whilst the Austrian could be back sooner than expected, there are still matches where Inter will have to cope without him.

Therefore, if Sanchez cannot find his best form, Inter could be in trouble.

And according to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi is ready to turn to alternative solutions.

Namely, the newspaper report, the coach could test out Mkhitaryan and Klaassen in out-and-out attacking roles.

Both players are capable of functioning in the final third.

And Inzaghi will have the chance to work with both during the international break. Neither are going away on international duty, so the coach is certain to see what he can do with them in attack during the next couple weeks of training.
