Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is reportedly closing in on signing a contract renewal.

The 27-year-old joined the club in the summer of 2021 as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi who made the move to Paris Saint-Germain.

This season, the Dutchman has been on an impressive form. He contributed with two goals and as many assists in his seven Serie A appearances. He also has an assist in two Champions League outings.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri will reward the player with a contract that includes a pay rise.

The source expects the player’s representatives from the Wasserman agency to arrive at the club’s headquarters at some point during the ongoing international break.

As the report explains, both parties are eager to prolong their collaboration. Dumfries’ current deal runs until 2025. The extension should push the deadline until the summer of 2027.

Moreover, the new contract will adjust the wingback’s salary. He currently earns 2.5 million euros as net wages.

Inter Milan Wingback Denzel Dumfries Is Close To Signing News Contract Until 2027

The source believes Dumfries will be pocketing 4 million euros per year after signing his new deal with the Beneamata.

This would be similar to the figures that Federico Dimarco should collect after signing his own contract renewal.

Therefore, Inter Milan’s two starting wingers will be earning more or less the same salary.

Dumfries is currently with the Dutch national team, preparing for upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The Netherlands will take on France in Amsterdam tomorrow before clashing heads with Greece in Athens on Monday.
