Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini says Inter Milan are stronger this season despite losing the services of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko in the summer.

The Belgian striker returned to Chelsea following the expiry of his loan stint. While the Nerazzurri were working on bringing him back on a permanent deal, he ended up joining AS Roma following a lengthy soap opera.

As for Dzeko, he signed for Fenerbahce as a free agent after seeing out his contract with the Serie A giants. The management brought in Marcus Thuram and Marko Arnautovic as replacements for the departing duo.

However, Gasperini identifies another reason why the Beneamata have gained strength this season.

The former Genoa manager believes Inter are now mentally stronger after reaching the Champions League final last season.

The 65-year-old also discussed the other potential Scudetto contenders.

“Even though they lost Dzeko and Lukaku, Inter have two extra gears this season due to the Champions League final. This gives them additional strength,” said Gasperini in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“However, Milan have been exceptional after their loss in the Derby della Madonnina.

Atalanta Manager Gian Piero Gasperini Insists Inter Milan Are Even Stronger Despite Losing Edin Dzeko And Romelu Lukaku

“The two Milanese giants are very strong. Juventus are good as well, but have a few less certainties.

“Napoli have their problems and will lose Osimhen for the African Cup of Nations, but they remain the same team that won the title by a landslide last season. I see the Milanese duo and Napoli in front.

“Roma, if Dybala and Lukaku remain healthy, will play for the top spotsLazio, after an extraordinary season, are now displaying more normal performances.”
