AS Roma striker Romelu Lukaku was already having talks with Juventus and AC Milan ahead of Inter Milan’s clash against Man City in the Champions League final.
The Belgian caused quite a stir over the summer when he turned his back on the Nerazzurri.
The 30-year-old has recently claimed that the Nerazzurri fans would change their minds if they were to learn his own version of the events.
Nevertheless, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) isn’t buying the player’s claims. The pink newspaper reveals that Lukaku was already in contact with Juventus and AC Milan even before the Champions League final against Man City.
As the source tells it, the striker’s former agency Roc Nation had already agreed terms with Inter over a permanent move. However, Lukaku and his lawyer Sebastien Ledure had other plans.
The report reveals that the former Everton and Man Utd man had been complaining about Inter coach Simone Inzaghi since the start of 2023.

The manager favored Edin Dzeko on the big occasions. Yet, Lukaku was expecting to start the UCL final. Therefore, his omission from the starting lineup was perhaps the final straw.
However, this decision didn’t come as a surprise to those who witnessed Lukaku’s “curious” attitude at Appiano Gentile. The Belgian even lacked intensity in the final week of preparation and asked for an extra day off.
Finally, Lukaku was a noticeable absentee in Federico Dimarco’s wedding on June 24th. This is when many persons at Inter start realizing that something is truly awry.
