Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto has revealed that his coach Simone Inzaghi was the first to tell him Brazil had called him up.

Speaking in a press conference whilst with the Selecao, via FCInterNews, the 24-year-old recalled how he first learned that he had received the call-up.

This international break is a big one for Inter wingback Augusto.

The former Monza and Corinthians has received a call-up to the Brazilian national team for the first time.

That follows a very positive start to the season for Augusto.

The 24-year-old had not necessarily played regularly for Inter or had a place in the starting eleven. However, when he has played, he has always demonstrated his qualities.

Last season with Monza Augusto had proven to be an outstanding attacking wingback.

And in Simone Inzaghi’s system, the Brazilian has looked like a player who can add plenty of energy and attacking thrust down the left flank.

Carlos Augusto: Simone Inzaghi First To Inform Me Of Brazil Call-Up

Prior to the current international break, Augusto had not received a call-up for Brazil.

That does not mean that the wingback’s form for Monza and Inter went without notice.

However, it is naturally difficult to get into the Selecao team given the number of players there are in each position for such a powerhouse of world football.

But Augusto’s form has finally earned him a spot in the Brazil squad.

And the Brazilian has revealed how he experienced learning the news that he would be in the team.

“I was in the training camp with Inter, at the team dinner,” Augusto recalled.

“Simone Inzaghi called me and told me that they had received a call. I’d received a call-up.”

“It was Friday, and I was expected to show up on Sunday,” the Nerazzurri wingback said of his national team call-up. “Everybody stood up and started applauding.”

“Then I saw the news, I called the family and saw that they were crying from happiness.”
