Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez will have to cover overtime as a grueling schedule awaits the club in the upcoming weeks.

The Nerazzurri will take on Torino in an away fixture tomorrow. Next week, they will host RB Salzburg in the Champions League and AS Roma in a major Serie A showdown. Moreover, Inter will travel to Bergamo on November 4 for a clash against Atalanta.

So as Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) explains, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will be heavily relying on the services of his captain. The report describes the Argentine star as “indispensable” for the club’s cause.

The 26-year-old inherited the captain’s armband in the summer following the departure of Samir Handanovic and other senior members of the squad.

The striker has taken his game up a notch. He currently leads the Capocannoniere race with 10 goals from eight Serie A appearances.

As the source explains, this won’t be the first time Lautaro has to work overtime. It recalls the previous campaign where he played in all 57 official matches.

Inter Milan Simone Inzaghi Will Continue To Heavily Rely On Lautaro Martinez In The Coming Weeks

This season, Martinez has already featured in all 10 of the club’s fixtures thus far. He was in the starting formation on nine occasions. He only made one appearance off the bench and it saw him bagging four goals at the expense of Salernitana.

So with Marko Arnautovic injured and Alexis Sanchez tired, the World Cup winner will have to cover many matches.

The source mentions an alternative solution with one of the midfielders playing in more advanced position, granting the skipper some rest.

The report names Davy Klaassen, Stefano Sensi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for this role. However, Inzaghi is yet to deploy this tactical twist this season.
