Inter Milan are looking to put the signature of Denzel Dumfries on a new contract. However, this doesn’t necessarily rule out a summer sale.
The Dutchman joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2021 as a direct replacement to Achraf Hakimi who made the mega-money switch move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Slowly but surely, the former PSV Eindhoven man established himself as a pillar in Simone Inzaghi’s starting formation. He has now cemented himself as a stalwart for both club and country.
This season, the 27-year-old has thus far contributed with two goals and as many assists in seven Serie A appearances. He also provided the assist for Marcus Thuram’s winner against Benfica in the Champions League.
So according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Italian giants are looking to extend the player’s contract which will expire in 2025.
As the source tells it, Dumfries should soon sign a contract that runs until the summer of 2027. The club will also raise his net salary from 2.5 million euros to 4M per season.
Inter Milan Could Renew The Contract Of Denzel Dumfries Only To Sell Him In The Summer
However, the Turin-based newspaper claims that this contract renewal won’t rule out a summer exit.
As the source tells it, Inter would like to push back the deadline to maintain their leverage on the situation. So if the Nerazzurri receive an offer in the region of 40-45 million euros, they would surely give it a thought.
The report adds that Dumfries has many suitors among Premier League clubs. Moreover. Bayern Munich enquired about the wingback in the past.
