Torino have announced that their striker Duvan Zapata will miss the Serie A clash against Inter due to an injury.

The Granata will host the Nerazzurri on Saturday in the 9th matchday of the Serie A campaign. The encounter kicks off at 19:00 CET at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

However, the 32-year-old will miss the clash due to an injury. This is a significant blow for Torino coach Ivan Juric.

The Turin-based club announced the news on Friday in an official statement explaining that the Colombian has sustained a knee injury.

“Torino FC announces that striker Duvan Zapata has suffered a prolonged trauma to the left rectus femoris,” reads the official note via FcInter1908.

The club will be evaluating the player’s condition in the coming days before offering a prognosis.

Zapata joined Napoli in 2013 and has been plying his trade in Italian football ever since. While his stint at the Maradona Stadium was relatively forgettable, he found more success at Udinese and Sampdoria.

Duvan Zapata Will Skip The Encounter Between Torino And Inter Milan Due To An Injury

In 2018, he earned a switch to Atalanta where he managed to take his career to the next level under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini. However, injuries have reduced his role in Bergamo over the last couple of years.

Therefore, the Colombian made a deadline switch to Torino in the summer. He joined the Granata on loan with the obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Zapata scored two goals in eight Serie A appearances since the start of the campaign. His first strike ensued while representing Atalanta. The second was a late equalizer that earned Torino a valuable draw against AS Roma.
