There have been major changes to Inter Milan’s squad since they last faced Torino 140 days ago – five of the players from the starting eleven in that match are now gone.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the amount of squad turnover in those twenty weeks.

The last time that Inter faced Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino was at the beginning of June.

That match was the last of the Serie A season for the Nerazzurri and the Granata.

For Inter, it was more or less a dead rubber. They had secured Champions League football with the previous weekend’s match against Atalanta.

And for Torino, it was an opportunity to make a big positive statement to end the campaign – and there was even a slight chance of European football.

But it’s not exactly as though there was a threat of relegation for the Piedmontese side.

Therefore, it was more of a warm-up match for the Champions League final from an Inter perspective, if anything.

Five Players Gone From Inter Starting XI Vs Torino In June

It would be hard to overstate how much change has happened since that match.

One player who cannot feature for Inter this evening is a player Torino will be happy to see the back of.

Marcelo Brozovic scored the winning goal in both of last season’s 1-0 wins over the Granata. And the Croat headed off to Al-Nassr during the summer.

Meanwhile Roberto Gagliardini departed from Inter on a free transfer. He joined Monza when his contract with the Nerazzurri ran out.

Robin Gosens left for Union Berlin.

And Romelu Lukaku’s story is one that no Inter fan will be unfamiliar with at this stage.

Lastly, there is Samir Handanovic. The Slovenian had captained Inter up until last season, but retired from football during the summer.
