Ex-Juventus and AC Milan star Gianluca Zambrotta tips his former two clubs to compete for the Scudetto title, giving them the edge over Inter Milan.

While a large section of fans and pundits consider the Nerazzurri as the main favorites to clinch the league, the 46-year-old thinks otherwise.

The 2006 World Cup winner believes the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri will be fighting for the title this season.

The two giants will clash heads on Sunday evening at the San Siro Stadium. Milan currently sit on top of the Serie A table, while Juventus are third, four points adrift from the top.

Although Inter sit between the two in second place, Zambrotta feels the Nerazzurri have been less convincing. He points out the club’s recent setbacks, mainly the defeat at the hands of Sassuolo and the draw against Bologna.

“The Scudetto favorites? Milan and Juventus are on equal terms,” said the former Italy star in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“You can say Juve because they actually have more time to prepare for the matches. But you can also consider Milan as the favorites because they started strong and are playing well.

“On the other hand, Inter have had a couple of setbacks. I find them less convincing.”

Zambrotta started his career at Como and then made a name for himself at Bari. He joined Juventus in 1999 before leaving the club amidst the Calciopoli scandal in 2006.

After spending a couple of years at Barcelona, he made the switch to Milan in 2008. He remained with the Rossoneri until his initial retirement in 2012.
