Former Juventus, Lazio, and West Ham United striker Paolo Di Canio feels that Inter Milan were not quite up to the pace in the first half against Torino on Saturday, but then turned on the style in the second half of the match.

Speaking on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, Di Canio gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s win away to the Granata over the weekend.

Inter always knew that their first match back from the international break wasn’t going to be an easy one.

Torino are a team who can give virtually any opposition a difficult time. The Granata’s disciplined and organized style of man-marking ensures that.

And in the first half, that’s more or less what happened.

There were some good spells for Inter.

But particularly in the last fifteen minutes or so of the half, Torino were able to play at their preferred tempo.

Then in the second half the dynamic change.

Particularly after the introduction of substitutes in midfield and on the flanks, Inter found other gear. The Nerazzurri’s quality and precision at speed proved to be too much for Torino.

Di Canio Reacts To Inter Serie A Win Vs Torino

Former Italian international striker Di Canio analyzed Saturday evening’s match.

“Inter were off the pace in the first half,” he said. “But when they play like that, it doesn’t hurt them.”

“In the second half the quality came through once they had broken the dealock,” the former Bianconeri and West Ham man suggested.

“It was a difficult away ground for them to play at,” Di Canio added.

“But they won, and now they’re first in the table.”

The former striker also gave the view that “Inter have to think mainly in terms of the league.”

“There are other competitions, but they’re a strong team.”
