Wingback Carlos Augusto feels that between Inter Milan and Brazil, he’s in the best form of his career at the moment.

The 24-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s win over Red Bull Salzburg.

Augusto has certainly been on an upward trajectory over the past couple seasons.

The Brazilian helped Monza to promotion to Serie A. And then, in what was both his and the Brianzoli’s first ever season in the Italian top flight, Augusto proved how decisive he can be.

Augusto scored six goals and assisted an additional five last season for Monza.

This was enough to earn the 24-year-old a move to Inter. He replaced former Atalanta wingback Robin Gosens on the left flank.

Augusto has formidable competition for a place on the left from Federico Dimarco.

But the Brazilian has already made a couple starts, and has also been a regular from the bench.

This early-season form at club level was enough to earn Augusto a call-up for the Brazilian national team.

The 24-year-old made his debut for the Selecao during the recent international break.

Carlos Augusto Proud Of Progress With Inter & Brazil

“On a personal level this is the best moment of my career,” Augusto noted.

“First came Inter, and now the national team,” he added.

“I hope that I can keep going like this and keep helping my teammates.”

And the Brazilian also gave his reaction to yesterday evening’s win over Salzburg.

“It was a tough match,” he said. “They play well and have a good team.”

“We know that sometimes technique isn’t enough and you have to give everything to win matches,” the Brazilian made clear.

“And that’s what we did. It was a great win.”

And as far as when he thinks he’ll score a goal for Inter, Augusto said that “It will come. I just need to be more focused.”

“But for now I’m just happy to help the team.”
