Former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti reveals his great admiration towards AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho while offering his take on Romelu Lukaku.

The former Nerazzurri patron was at the club’s helm when Brazil legend Ronaldo received as raucous reception from Inter fans after signing for AC Milan.

This Sunday, Lukaku is set for a similar welcome. The Belgian left Inter under controversial circumstances.

The 30-year-old eventually joined Roma on loan from Chelsea. Therefore, the Curva Nord ultras are looking to greet him with 30,000 jeering whistles.

Moratti acknowledges that the fans have their reason to feel betrayed by Lukaku. However, he urges them to avoid illegal measures.

“It is difficult to make a comparison with Ronaldo, but the public does not forget certain things,” said the 78-year-old in his interview with La Presse via FcInterNews.

“The fans are always free to do what they want, as long as everything remains in legality.

“It’s something that can disturb the player, but I think he can easily resist. Of course, it won’t be pleasant.”

Moratti also discussed Mourinho’s absence. The Special One earned himself a touchline ban after receiving his marching orders last weekend against Monza.

The former Inter president says he’ll always support the Portuguese manager. The latter led the club towards the historic treble in 2009/10 before leaving to join Real Madrid.

“It’s not the first time Mourinho misses the Inter encounter. I don’t know if he did it on purpose. However, I am always on his side.”

“Inzaghi’s team is in a great shape, while Roma played on Thursday. Even though the Giallorossi will arrive prepared, it will be difficult for them.”
