Defender Benjamin Pavard is the favourite to start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A match against Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that Simone Inzaghi’s only selection doubt is between the Frenchman and Matteo Darmian.

The Gazzetta report that Inter coach Inzaghi has no doubt that he wants to put out his strongest possible starting eleven for this evening’s match.

Therefore, the coach has largely settled on the team that he wants to play. Across ten of the eleven positions, Inzaghi knows who will start.

Subsequently, this means that Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will start in attack. In the wide areas, there will be Federico Dimarco on the left and Denzel Dumfries on the right.

Furthermore, in midfield, the trio of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start. But in defense, Inzaghi is not yet entirely certain.

Benjamin Pavard Favourite To Start For Inter In Serie A Clash Vs Roma

According to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi is inclined towards starting Pavard on the right of the back three.

Matteo Darmian has gotten plenty of minutes there at the start of the season. But former Bayern Munich defender Pavard has become essentially first-choice in the big matches already.

Therefore, Inzaghi is reasonably sure that Pavard is going to be the man to start.

But the coach still has one or two doubts. He has mulled over the possibility of handing former Manchester United and Torino veteran Darmian the start.

Meanwhile, Francesco Acerbi will start in the centre of the defense. And Alessandro Bastoni will start alongside Acerbi and Pavard completing the back three.

The Gazzetta’s complete predicted Inter starting eleven for this evening’s match is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro
